Day trip

There is a great little day trip we take from the Maryland house--to Rehoboth Beach. It is a beautiful beach town with (Paul concurs) one of the best streets for touristy shopping we have ever seen. Paul does not concur on how fun it is to shop and browse through a ton of those shops, but he does oblige me and come along. There's caramel popcorn in it for him, as well as Dogfish Head Brewery, excellent consolation prizes.

Here are some crazy lovely hydrangeas we found tucked in among the stores.

For some odd reason, the girls wanted to be photographed with this buddha (or other eastern religion?) statue. No spiritual significance to this photo, but look at those smiles! Had to snap it and record them.

Before today, we had never driven the extra 15 minutes up to Lewes (pronounced Lewis, not lose), DE. It was founded in 1631, and we had hoped to catch the 2pm historic Lewes walking tour advertised on the website . . . but it was canceled with a paper sign at the historical society. Oh well. That was after our hopes of catching the ferry from Lewes to Cape May were dashed when I tried to get tickets last week only to find it completely sold out for the foreseeable future. However. It was a very quaint old town with even more cute shops and we enjoyed the trip!

Our day ended with another blazing Merryland sunset. Red sky at night, McCall family's delight!
